The Murasaki Shigeki-teki necklace is a bouquet of five flowers. It´s a splash of colors. This fabric bouquet brings together different patterns: a white-and-blue stripped print, a liberty print for the red flowers, and a plain fucsia smaller flower. The green beads and colorful buttons are vintage. With the Murasaki Shigeki-teki necklace we aspire to empower its wearer to be themselves and to feel confident to pursue and achieve their aims.

Houstonised is inspired in traditional Kanzashi making. Kanzashi begun as an accessory that women wore for protection in Japan. Houstonised now revamps Japanese traditional art of flower-making (Kanzashi) using high-quality, vintage materials and materials as chemical and synthetics-free as possible. We value this as essential in every part of the process: from the filling for our flowers to the buttons that top them. The strength of tradition empower us in today´s lives.

Murasaki Shikibu´s life inspires this collection of fabric flower accessories. Murasaki was the first novelist writer in the world. She was a cultured woman and a lady-in-waiting at the Japanese imperial court when she wrote The Tale of Genji at around 1010 or 1012 AC. Against social conventions of her time, she decided to write. We hope to prove her determination and elegance in our accessory collection.
