Earrings are all flowers of about 1 cm diameter and the stud is silver-coated. The brooches have 4 or 5 small Kanzashi flowers with a security steel clasp at the back for the pin. Brooches are typically 4 or 5 cm long by 3 cm wide. If you are interested, get in touch and we can start thinking about your design!

Kanzashi is a traditional art in Japan of flower and animal accessory making with small bits of fabric, sokui (rice glue) and dedication. Women started making items to make their hairbuns beautiful. These hairpins were held up by rudimentary wooden and shell items which they also used as weapons if needed. Feeling strong and beautiful gave them a sort of power. And would you not feel better if you felt strong and beautiful at once? This is a value I carry across all Houstonised items.
