Flowers in Covid´s time
While we are confined at home these days due to the Covid world threat, we may still think of feeling beautiful, and not giving in and and feeling powerless –which could be easy. We can still think about ways of making us feel good, of course! even in times of uncertainty, fear and when it seems difficult to have control over what happens around us. These surroundings and our world are reduced to being homebound now. There is lots of beauty there too!
Homebound and hopeful
First and foremost, on this side of that window, there is you, me, my friends, your family… We are all beautiful and deserve love and hugs, to feel confident and gorgeous too! There´s also a nice view from my window: my view is that of hope and strength, of people´s stronger values and closer ties, of clearer views and more social unity. Social media is playing an important part in making us feel loved and connected ironically, as it seems it´s playing just the opposite role than it was just before Covid happened.
Feeling strong and safe
Kanzashi art was originally a hair-binding amulet. As a luck charm, it would confer women strength and a sense of power. Later on, it evolved into a beautiful object to keep one´s hair up –so still keeping its practical use. In this way, it would also make them feel confident and powerful -and beutiful- as they carried on with their lives.
While we usually wear accessories when going out, we may wear them whenever we want, to go out –or to hang out at home, why not? The idea is to feel confident, beautiful and safe, right? So while I definitely encourage you to wear anything that makes you feel gorgeous, confident and safe, Covid has forced Houstonised to rethink our marketing and social network strategies.
Our next steps
Regarding our short-term future…oh-oh… Houstonised won´t be mailing out products for as long as the confinement lasts with the idea of not contributing to the workload of our postal services. These are already delivering sanitary products, food and necessary goods to all four corners of the Earth. At Houstonised I think we can contribute to their health –and sanity too- by suspending our shipping for as long as they´re strained. Houstonised has been forced to not participate in any markets or promotion –fun events- for now. Sad as it is –I love interacting with flowered customers and creative folk!- it´s a difficult but necessary decision, for now.
For now
Houstonised will still process orders if you so wish to support us. I would still love to hear from you, of your dream designs and ideas. As soon as the blockages are lifted, Houstonised will ship your flower vintage accessories made with extra love and appreciation for your support, loyalty, and love for yourself.
