Houstonised Accessories About Us

inspiring.

Kanzashi is a Japanese art which developed to make Japanese ladies even more beautiful. Flourishing during the 16th century, Kanzashi branched out creatively into as many forms and shapes as the magnificent 3D of fabric can do. We discovered the Kanzashi flower art and we became instantly mesmerised by it. We fell in love with the endless possibilities of Kanzashi, Japanese fabrics, textures and colors, and we made it our own, adopting vintage fabrics for our own Kanzashi creations. We want our accessories to inspire the wearer of our Houstonised pieces to be themselves, to feel majestic and to reach as far and as they deserve.

vintage.

A sustainable approach is at the core or our values. Sustainability is carried out throughout the process of Kanzashi-making, from the glue we use, to the fabric. Houstonised chooses vintage fabrics and vintage materials to work with. We upcycle high-quality fabric and give it the chance to write yet another chapter in its story. Quality is just as important as the detail of its prints. We combine our carefully-chosen vintage fabrics with vintage buttons, sometimes glass, sometimes wood.

handmade.

Behind Houstonised, there is craftswoman Paula. The endless possibilities of fabric and the uniqueness of every piece are her stamina. She believes an ethical source for her materials is as important as their design. It all adds up to the making of a unique piece: a piece of wearable 21st century art with traditional roots. Every headpiece, necklace or earring she makes is special and carefully crafted. She hopes you will cup your Houstonised accessory first, then give it lots of fun and special moments. At Houstonised, we believe accessories should make the wearer be proud of themselves, their style and abilities and make them shine in their best light.
